Good to know

Travelling abroad for medical treatment may be a stressful procedure. Below you may find some useful information that would help you prepare your trip.

TRAVEL PREPARATIONS

Once you have received the confirmation of your appointment you may begin planning your trip. Below we offer a list of essential things you need to consider.

VISA: Depending on your nationality, you may need a VISA to enter Greece. 

PAYMENT: Please prepare your payment method in advance and have your credit card, and/or cash ready. Notify your bank about your travel plans to Greece to avoid any issues with your account being blocked, as international transactions might be flagged as suspicious, if not reported. MEDICAL DATA: Do not forget to have with you all relevant and necessary medical data, including hematological results, and images such as MRI, CT or X-Ray. 

What to bring

When you are about to go on a medical treatment trip or accompany someone you love, a suitcase is probably the last thing on your mind. Below we have a list of essentials you need to take with you but also those you shouldn’t bring along.

Personal items

  • Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and pyjamas. In Rhodes is usually warm, so check the weather forecast to add any appropriate piece of clothing.
  • Comfortable walking shoes and slippers. 
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, shaving equipment 
  • Eyeglasses, hearing aids, dentures, canes, walkers, crutches and other assistive devices you use for daily activities. 
  • Sleep aids, such as your favorite pillow or blanket.
  • Earplugs, earphones and playlists of your favorite tunes.
  • Phone charger.
  • Books, magazines, playing cards or games to help pass the time.

  • A list of your medication
  • Recent examinations, such as MRI or X-Ray
  • Insurance information
  • All the information you have received from the General Clinic of Dodecanese

What not to bring
We recommend you do not bring any of the following with you:

  • Jewelry or any valuables you might need to remove (the clinic will not assume liability for these).
  • Large amounts of cash. There is an ATM within the Clinic, and all stores accept credit cards.
  • If you need to bring certain valuables into the hospital, please make sure that you are fully covered by your own insurance.

About your stay

Rooms & Facilities

All patient rooms, single or double, are quite modern, pleasant and well-equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If required, we can arrange for an escort to stay in the patient’s room. In our rooms you will find

  • Electronic patient-controlled bed
  • En-suite bathroom
  • Air conditioning
  • TV
  • Telephone with direct dial facilities
  • Nurse call system
  • Personal safety deposit box/safe for any valuables, however we recommend not to bring them 
  • WiFi internet access
Cleaning

Cleanliness and hygiene are important to everyone in the hospital.

We have our own housekeeping team who will clean your room every day, supply fresh towels each day and deep clean your room after you leave.

The Café

The café is located on the ground floor of the Clinic. Should your physician allows it, you may visit it. T provides a range of products such as sandwiches, pies, sweets, coffee and beverages.

Food & Drink

Eating well forms a vital part of your treatment and recovery. Our catering team, guided by our expert dietitians, offer healthy and tasty dishes, based on your physician’s instructions. We prepare all our dishes with fresh produce and local ingredients, taking full advantage of Greece’s exceptional food heritage.
